About Me

Who Am I?

Hello! My name is Garth Benson and I am a Mechanical Engineer that enjoys bridging the gap between electronics and mechanics. I have many interests, notably including coding, additive manufacturing, and robotics.

I believe that purposeful engineering and the utilization of the scientific method are powerful tools that humanity can use to improve quality of life (…or hinder it) and to discover the universe we find ourselves in.

A Little Background.

I received my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University. I am currently working at a commercial refrigeration company in Iowa where I am a Design To Value and New Product Development Engineer.

Some of My Experiences…

Some past roles have included a summer internship at Argonne National Lab, research with The Bentil Group at ISU, and being an undergraduate TA for the Manufacturing Laboratory class at ISU.

Some of my notable engineering projects include building multiple 3D printers, converting a hobbyist lathe to CNC, and coding a four-bar link calculator.
